As pupils approach key stage 4, they have the opportunity of choosing subjects they would like to specialise in. There are some subjects which are compulsory that everyone studies. Pupils are then able to select three option subjects.
Please note, options are subject to change. Although we work hard to try and accommodate all option choices, in a small number of cases it may not be possible.
The options process starts around January. All parents are invited in to a special parents' evening to explain the process and are able to ask any questions they may have. Parents may also wish to make an appointment to meet with the Careers Adviser.
Pupils receive special assemblies in school, and access to support from the Careers Adviser and school staff. Every pupil has a one-to-one meeting with their Head of Year or Senior Staff to discuss their choices and ask questions before deciding on their final choices.
Pupils then start studying their option subjects in June of Year 9.
